About Benbijnsdorp
A Local Grading and Excavation Crew for Coeur d’Alene
Benbijnsdorp handles land excavation for homeowners and builders across Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and the surrounding Kootenai County communities. We take on the full earthwork scope, from site preparation and grading to foundation excavation, utility trenching, land clearing, and drainage work, and most of what we do comes back to one thing: moving water off your lot instead of letting it pool against the house.
North Idaho ground can fool you. A parcel that looks flat may hold a high water table under the topsoil, and clay a few feet down traps runoff long after the snow melts. That is why we read the fall across a property before we dig, strip and stockpile topsoil, and set a compacted subgrade with laser grade control so the finished elevations actually shed water toward a real outlet.
What Sets Us Apart
- Drainage first. We grade for positive slope, swales, and French drains that carry water away from your foundation, not toward it.
- By the book. We call 811 before any dig and follow OSHA trenching rules on every cut five feet and deeper.
- Compacted to spec. Structural fill goes down in lifts and is compacted to 95 percent density, verified by test, so pads do not settle.
- Local and licensed. A licensed, insured Kootenai County crew, and a real person answers when you call.
